Appointments and scheduling

How to book, view, and manage appointments in Cerawave, and how appointment types define what a booking is for.

Booking an appointment

An appointment ties a patient to a time and an appointment type. The type is what the visit is for, and it is defined once and reused rather than retyped per booking.

Appointments made for a patient already on file carry their history with them, so the doctor opens the visit with the record already attached.

Seeing the day

The appointments screen is the forward-looking view: what is booked and when. Reception works from it, and it feeds the day’s queue.

Because the same patient record backs both, a change made in one place does not have to be repeated in the other.

Confirmations

Appointment confirmations can be sent to the patient by email, and clinics on the reminder workflow can also reach patients over WhatsApp.

Delivery is separate from the booking itself, so a failed message never silently loses the appointment.

Common questions

Can I change what appointment types exist?
Yes. Appointment types are configured for the clinic and reused across bookings rather than being fixed by Cerawave.
Does the patient get a confirmation automatically?
A confirmation is sent to the patient when contact details are on file. Templates for what is sent are configurable in settings.
